Description

Crafted in sterling silver, this St. Brigid’s Cross necklace combines two of Ireland’s most cherished treasures: an ancient emblem of protection and genuine Connemara marble. With natural variations in every piece of stone, each necklace carries its own unique slice of the Irish landscape.

Product Highlights

  • The Design: A classic St. Brigid’s Cross silhouette centred with a polished inlay of natural Connemara marble, showcasing distinct, earthy green tones.
  • The Meaning: Honouring St. Brigid, one of Ireland's patron saints, whose Feast Day on February 1st marks the arrival of spring and new beginnings.
  • Craftsmanship & Materials: Crafted in solid sterling silver measuring 23mm x 23mm (0.91" x 0.91"), officially hallmarked by the Assay Office in Dublin Castle for certified authenticity.
  • Chain & Fit: Suspended from an 18" sterling silver trace chain, offering a versatile length ideal for both solo wear and layering.
  • Best For: St Brigid’s Day gifts, milestone celebrations, heritage keepsakes, or a protective blessing for loved ones.

Woven from rushes to welcome spring, the St. Brigid’s Cross is a traditional Irish talisman placed over doorways to protect homes.
At its core lies authentic Connemara marble, often called "Ireland’s Gemstone." Formed over 600 million years ago in the wild mountains of the West of Ireland, no two pieces are the same. Together, the sacred cross and ancient marble create a deeply meaningful pendant, a wearable connection to Irish heritage, safety, and home.

About us

Margo and Gustaf Obernik

Founded in 1941 by Gustaf Obernik, Solvar stemmed from his fascination with Ireland's heritage and the surge in tourism he witnessed at the Gap of Dunloe, Co Killarney. This ignited his passion to design and create jewellery that captured the essence of Ireland.

Dublin City

Our humble beginnings started with just two employees at No.10 Harcourt Street in Dublin City. Mr Obernik quickly gained recognition for his beautiful pieces inspired by Celtic designs and Irish history.

Handcrafted with skill

We remain committed to using high-quality materials to craft timeless pieces that honour Ireland's cultural legacy. Our collections feature iconic Irish symbols like the Claddagh, the Celtic knot, and the shamrock, ensuring a piece of Ireland for everyone.
